A "made beaver" token . . . requires some explanation. Until not so many years ago these tokens were the coinage used at posts. . . . Various objects were used as tallies. . . . To simplify the system " made beaver " coins were introduced in various denominations. . . . One "made beaver" equalled the skin of an adult beaver in prime condition and of good quality.
